Curriculum and Learning

Our reception curriculum introduces children to school learning in an inspiring and engaging way. Children learn essential skills that support their mental and physical development and help them thrive.

Children learn through interactive play, and more formal activities led by our teachers. Children also have the opportunity to build upon their curiosity and interests by choosing activities that appeal to them.

Our bright and colourful classrooms provide an inspiring space for children to learn. Children are also able to develop their skills in our large outdoor area, school hall, science lab/cooking room and music studio.

Our friendly and supportive team leads learning following the Early Years Foundation Stage - the national standard for learning for children aged up to five years old.

Our learning focuses on:

  • communication and language
  • physical development
  • personal, social and emotional development
  • literacy
  • mathematics
  • understanding the world
  • expressive arts and design.

Our curriculum helps children become confident learners and prepares them for more formal learning in Year 1. Information on how what children learn during the year is shown below.
