New Year, New Routines: Helping Your Child Thrive this Term

7th January 2026

Welcome back! We hope your family had a restful break and that your children are as excited as we are to start a fresh term of learning and discovery.

At our school, we believe that every day is an opportunity for a lightbulb moment. Whether it is mastering a new sound in phonics or collaborating on a science experiment, being present is the first step toward success.

The Power of Consistency

A new term is the perfect time to reset your morning routines. When children arrive at school on time, they feel safe and secure. They have those vital few minutes to hang up their coats, greet their friends, and settle into the day without feeling rushed. This sense of belonging is the foundation of a happy school day.

Building Resilience Together

We know that winter can bring its fair share of sniffles. While we never want a truly unwell child in school, we often find that children with mild colds feel much better once they are engaged with their friends and busy in the classroom. If you are unsure, our advice is to bring them in. We will always call you if they need to go home.

Working in Partnership

We are here to support you. If your child is ever reluctant to come to school or if you are facing challenges at home that make the morning routine difficult, please reach out to your child’s teacher or any of our team. By talking early, we can find solutions together to ensure your child doesn’t miss out on the learning and friendships that make school so special.

Top Tips for a Smooth Start:

  • Prepare the night before: Check bags and uniforms together before bedtime.

  • Prioritise sleep: A consistent bedtime helps children feel ready for the day ahead.

  • Celebrate showing up: Acknowledge the effort your child makes to get to school, especially on those chilly winter mornings.

Let’s work together to make this term one where every child can truly unlock their full potential.
